On Tuesday 23
September, the children attending Ziggies After School Club went on a Bear
Hunt. Some of the children brought their own bears to help. We dug in the
sandpit to find lots of small bears hiding from us and then we reburied them so
that other children could find them later.
‘We’re Going
on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen is a very popular book with its repetition
that all the children can join in with, and its a great build up to the end when
the bear actually goes on a people hunt!! The children loved the story and
joined in with the actions.
After the
story, we made our own bear pictures showing scenes from the book. We used
tissue paper for trees and cotton wool for snow, all with a generous helping of
glitter to finish them off nicely. We also painted our own bear faces on paper
plates and did the usual selection of word searches, puzzles and colouring
pictures to remind us of the story.
Ziggies After
School Club will be back on Tuesday 30 September, from 3.15pm – 4.15pm in the
Middle Block Hall. We will be reading ‘Pants’ by Giles Andreae, which always
brings a smile as so many of the children (and some brave adults) arrive with
their pants on their heads!! So if you’re in year 1 or year 2, please come along
with your grown up and a copy of the book (if you have one), and any brothers
or sisters you may have, to join us for some stories, craft and fun.
